X Typing

Ex Cathedra is a Meyers Briggs INTP. Alas.

I find these phrases:
true of me, sorta true of me, not true of me.

loner,
more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family,
wrestles with the meaninglessness of existence,
likes esoteric things,
disorganized,

messy, (alternating with OCD moments of orderliness)
likes science fiction,
can be lonely,

observer,
private,

can't describe feelings easily, (I've learned how to over the years)
detached,
likes solitude,
not revealing,

unemotional, (on the outside, anyway)
rule breaker,
avoidant,
familiar with the darkside,
skeptical,
acts without consulting others,

does not think they are weird but others do,
socially uncomfortable,
abrupt,
fantasy prone,

does not like happy people, (only if they're dumb; otherwise I like em)
appreciates strangeness,
frequently loses things,
acts without planning,
guarded,

not punctual,
more likely to support marijuana legalization,
not prone to compromise, (practically I do compromise, intellectually, no.)
hard to persuade,
relies on mind more than on others,

calm

Mr B, my demi-nemesis and favorite guy, is an ESTJ...(and a Seven to my Five) which, as he will tell you, is much better. I can't disagree.

I'm an INTJ myself. "The Mastermind," as Keirsey would put it. A thinker who is self-assured and makes decisions quickly, a good leader who avoids leadership unless he sees nobody else capable enough. A ruthless pragmatist who asks "Does it work?" in every situation. Comfortable working alone. Keep me out of the Oval Office. :)

I think my ideal partner is an ENFP- the Champion, enthusiastic, dramatic, energetic types who give people support and needed help. One of the trainers at my gym fits that description. He's taken a liking to me, always trains me when he can. I'm not sure, but he might just play for our team. Hm...

INTP seems right on for you. Distaste for illogical or dishonest customs, a quick wit, devastating in a debate. Keirsey identified them as Architects. He listed Jefferson as an Architect. Could be worse, you could be like me and have Marx and Lenin for company. :)

Same in type here, INTP, but kind of vague on the P part.

I don't think Mr. Ex should be so "Alas."

Also, I have long noticed that when people bring up this typology topic, they usu. bring on speculations/examples of "opposites-attract." I say Blecchh.

Nathan, it doesn't hurt that I found him attractive even before I began speculating about his personality type. I'm not saying that is his personality type, and I'm not even sure that would be my "compatible personality." I have a feeling that I would hate dating another INTJ- I may as well clone myself and have a clone-incest relationship. No thanks.

I'm interested in the guy (let's call him N) because I find several aspects of him attractive- his face, body, and I think a guy who gets a little more enjoyment out of life would be good for me. The fact that he's interested in me in some capacity and sends me some mixed signals about his sexuality doesn't hurt.

Opposites attract to a point. I think that somebody who acts as a counterbalance while sharing the same or similar interests can be beneficial. And then there's being so opposite that it's a wonder you're together. Reminds me of a guy I played hockey with in high school: his girlfriend was constantly dumping him and then getting back with him. He was clearly miserable, but couldn't bring himself to end it. No thank you.

It's prob. a lot to do with my father, father's father, and best bud in high school all being strong INTP's that I imagine 'nother Introintuithinkoperceivoperson as a very natural recipe for domestic coziness and home-ed-ness. Tho the home might end up being a grass hut.

I knew you had a lot of similarities to me. I score ISTP (with the I/E and the T/F close to neutral and sometimes flip sides for a bit, giving me bouts of ESFP).
