Just sayin'

According to the 2012 Legatum Prosperity Index, which ranks countries as "prosperous" based on a combination of economy, entrepreneurship & opportunity, education, health, safety & security, personal freedom and social capital:

The most "prosperous" nations on earth are

Norway
Denmark
Sweden
Australia
New Zealand
Canada
Finland
Netherlands
Switzerland
Ireland
Luxembourg
United States
United Kingdom
Germany
Iceland
Austria
Belgium

The most "prosperous" Latin American countries:

Uruguay
Argentina*
Costa Rica
Chile

Whaddaya think they all have in common?

PS. Francis The Talking Pope goes on and on about "the poor" based on his experience in his homeland of Argentina. Could be a lot worse, Your Chattyness.

Astounding to me that Ireland is doing better than we are. Their personal freedom rating is much higher than ours, as is their safety and security rating. That, and they despise Obama. I think I know where I'm sheltering if things get nasty here. Funny that it turns out that the country of my heritage that I've always felt the greatest affinity for sounds almost better than my own.

P.S. Nice to see that our healthcare system is still top-notch, at least until Obamacare goes into effect. If it ever does, which seems less likely with each delay and each supporter quietly (or loudly) withdrawing support.
