These days I watch
Psych mostly out of loyalty. Now in its 7th season, it's lost its freshness. And the formerly wise-ass and very sexy James Roday has put on the pounds. One of its minor pleasures in this age of PC lying, having to Believe Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast every day, is that the utterly conventional, neurotic, unbrave and uncool beta partner in the duo is the Black guy. (Star James Roday is actually James Rodriquez, half-Mexican, so that makes it kind of ok. In a pinch, he isn't
really White, so, well, you know.)
In younger days
Anyway, only-semi-Numinous Negro Burton Guster --he is nerdily brilliant in chemistry and has a regular paying job-- has an exchange with a sex-crazed White female who was raised by hippies and is into some Jungle Fever. Gus now has a steady Black girlfriend on the show, so he demurs as follows:
I am sorry, but I am in a relationship. And my lady and her illegitimate child are depending on me to make healthy moral decisions for them, for the sake of our future.
Pretty funny.
