Gay scouts yes, gay scoutmasters no?

Boy Scouts propose lifting ban on gays, but only for youth | Reuters:

I am sure to win Self-Hating Homo of the Week award from GLAAD, but this does not make me happy. Why? Because if I look at it in a larger context, it is one more surrender of traditional organizations to the metasticizing of Equality and Inclusion For All as the absolute value. The assertion of any set of traditional values is unacceptable bigotry; that's what this means. By implication, if this is passed in May, all of the past is now judged and condemned. No part of traditional America can say, Sorry, this is ours. And again, it's for a tiny tiny minority. All must bow before the Moloch of Diversity.

And they can still exclude gay adults? How long will that last? We'll take your young gay boys, until they grow up into sexual predators...

This depressed me:

"Chuck Small, a BSA adult leader and the parent of 10- and 12-year-old scouts in South Carolina, welcomed the latest change. "It's a hard and divisive issue, but what it comes down to is that we learn more from people who are different from us than people who are like us," Small said. "I want my boys to have that opportunity to learn from as many people as possible.""

As as suppliant life-long learner in the classroom of Difference is Wonderful, whose job is to gasp in wonder at the Otherness of the Other and to learn to depreciate "people who are like us."

PS Haven't thought about this in years and years, but I joined a local Boy Scout troop for a little while back when I was maybe 12 or so. One thing I do recall is that all the other boys in the little group-- whatever they call that-- were Jews, and I could not break into the clique, so I left.

The Egyptians had an interesting concept of dualism, casting it not as Good and Evil, but as Ma'at and Isfet, Order and Chaos, Stability and the Natural Order vs. Instability and Unnaturalness. That dichotomy certainly has more scientific support from physics than Good and Evil have from philosophy. If we accept that traditional American values favor Order via stability and tradition, then progressives by default embrace chaos and instability. Their diametric opposition to tradition really doesn't make sense unless you visualize them as unwitting agents of entropy.

Sure, instability may cause the country to collapse. But if I've learned anything from physics, it's that things like to be as stable as possible. Eventually, something resembling a stable country will reemerge. Hopefully, it will be comprised of people who reject the madness that brought them to that point.
