Despite the weather

which is very nice today, this is how I am feeling about my alternative Republic of Reality. The flag du jour:

It's a bit crude, but that's my mood today.

It's a multilayered semiotic. :)

The English flag: the red cross of St George on a white field. The cross here in the shape of a sword. The serpent wrapped around it is related to dragons (who are winged serpents, after all) and here is a rattlesnake, linked to the early American Gadsden "Don't Tread On Me" flag. It you turn the image vertically, you get the serpent and cross linked to Numbers 21 and John 3 (and Asklepios). The Greek motto is Molon labe, the reply of King Leonidas of Sparta to the Persians' demand at Thermopylae that they lay down their arms: Come and take them! The script is copied from the monument to Leonidas there. The spirit of Gadsden in Greek.

So it references the European and the Christian, the Pagan and the Greek roots and attitude of the Republic of Reality.

If it weren't for Mr B to make me laugh, I could become a crank and a curmudgeon...

The Greek on this banner is misspelled. The second vowel in molon should be omega, not omicron.

Shameful lapse on Ex Cathedra's part. Corrected. Ευχαριστώ.
