Here's the kind of situation where I feel stupid.
If the northern part of Kosovo is dominated by Serbs who don't want to be part of Kosovo, why don't they give them and that part back to Serbia? This mania for trapping hostile groups within the same political entity escapes Ex Cathedra.
The situation is doubtless more complex. I am sure that money, power, status and resources are all involved. But you'd think that the Balkanites, with their recent history of blood and slaughter precisely over this kind of thing, would understand as well as anyone in the world the risks of trying to contain in a single country people who hate each other.
Does the EU never learn?
What the hell are separate countries with boundaries for, anyway?

Great post. You're right. US and EU don't understand Serbia.

A machiavellian perspective could be that the Prince wants the Hatfields and McCoys focusing their energies against each other rather than against the Prince.
