Endings

A conservative Catholic blog I read has been responding to the recent Vatican document --even though it came from way down the food chain-- which basically tells Catholics to give up any efforts to convert Jews. The functional result of this in the real world is to complete the capitulation of the Church of Rome to yet one more group with a victimist grievance to wave at the West. I await the eventual announcement that since Vatican II said Muslims and Christians worship the same God, they, too, should be declared off limits.

In real life, of course, I have about zero interest in converting Muslims or Jews to Catholicism, but I have a lot of interest in one more Western backbone institution cutting its own throat to please people who hate it.

Thus contextualized, a comment I left at that blog:

Although I have not practiced Catholicism for several decades, it dominated --I used the word factually and without any animus-- my life for my first forty years on earth. Despite my departure from the fold, I realize that, unsurprisingly, I retain some very highly Catholic attitudes, especially since this old altar boy was in his teens before VaticanII erupted. I remember in my bones when it was The One True Church, something I believe that few Catholics now living have any sense of . Anyway, despite whatever bad behavior Catholics have engaged in over two very human millennia, to me The Church has remained functionally eternal. As I said to a Lutheran friend, I may be an apostate Roman but at least I am no Protestant.
What has shaken my assumption is reviewing the last 50 years in light of what I can only call the antics of the incumbent Pope, whose gift for confusion is unparalleled.
I am not ignorant of Church history, but I cannot recall a previous period in which the Church seemed so willing, eager even, to divest itself of its identifying marks in order to please a surrounding culture that defines itself by its loathing of Christianity.  The cultured despisers that Schliermacher knew were polite by comparison to our contemporaries.
And one of those hostile elements is the Jews. Rome seems to forget that in the real world, the vast majority of Jews (the dominant Ashkenazim anyway) have abandoned their ancient religion in favor of various forms of this-worldly leftist utopianism. If you can find an organization or movement committed to unraveling the Western world’s traditional cultures that is not over-represented with secular Jews, please let me know.
So the placating attitude of the formerly One True Church toward a people whose identity is now based upon an alienated sense of outrage and an almost genetic hatred of Christianity makes me wonder if in fact the Church of Rome really is just one more religious empire that will eventually fade away into history.
And lest anyone have a fainting spell about the phantom sin of “anti-Semitism,” I use the RC-Jewish dance as just one example. The bizarre desire of a dying German church to please the divorced-remarried by altering the structure of marriage is another…and of the Church’s treasonous support for filling Europe with alien Muslims and Africans I will not speak, lest I dig myself deeper into perdition.
It is deeply saddening even to an old reprobate like me, that the West’s collapse of self-confidence should have now infected the institution that for 1500 years was our backbone and soul.

Nine Years Later

I began this blog at the end of 2006; Blogger only began keeping stats in 2010.

My hits peaked in October 2014, with over 134,000 in 30 days. I have no idea why.

As I have said before, I assume that I actually have a maybe a couple of dozen regular actual human readers. All the rest are likely machine-driven searches or there are people who enter a search item in Google, etc. , it leads them to an old post of mine --there are almost 5000 of them-- and they move on.

If I move over to WordPress, the numbers will be countable on my fingers.

Moving on?

The new header pic is a copy of the one from a new ExCathedra blog on another blogging service. I have been toying with the idea, after nine years of very regular ranting, of moving over to something more focussed and streamlined and may just do it in the New Year.

If I do, I will post a link here for a couple of weeks to the new site, so that actual humans who read my infallible mouthings...or pixelings, really... can track me down.

The image is taken from a time-lapse video I saw recently. It is in the Italian Alps, the Sarntal, near Bolzano. The site is called The Stone Men in the local German dialect (it's in the German-speaking north of Italy*) and various stories about them say they are Celtic. At least the core of them are several hundred years old, although new ones have probably been added. They have the primitive look of very Old Europe.

And for reasons I have not been able to figure out, there is a Salem Cross planted in the center. This triple-barred cross has associations and resemblances (sorta like US Constitutional "emanations and penumbras") with the Papacy, the Crusades and Freemasonry...all undertakings of Western men!

The sun is either rising or setting...it's unclear. Which suits my purpose for a man of the Occident/ Abendland thinking of the future of his people. When I had an addition put on my older CelticViking shoulder tattoo a few years ago, it included the word Dunadan...which is Tolkien's Elvish for "Man of the West.

*Back in the 70's when I was a seminarian in Rome and my language skills were at their peak, I wound up as a translator during a tour of the Catacombs. The leader was speaking Italian but there was a red-headed Italian citizen there, a teenage girl, who only spoke German, so American me did the Italian to German translation.

Speaking of martyrs

on the feast today of St Stephen the Protomartyr, just to let my readers know how much I have to suffer through in my knee rehab process at the gym with my six-foot, 27-year-old trainer..

Painful.

Boxing Day Miscellany

Due to my 17-year sojourn in The Great (formerly) White North, today is not only the feast of St Stephen the First Martyr, on whose feast Good King Wenceslaus Looked Down, but also Boxing Day, a kind of Brit extension of the holiday, for reasons no one really understands. But it's a nice idea.

Giotto's version, I believe

St Stephen was one of the first seven deacons, an order of the priesthood created by the Apostles in response to the failure of multiculturalism in the early Church. Think I'm kidding? Read for yourself in the Acts of the Apostles, 6:1, and following.

But with the believers multiplying rapidly, there were rumblings of discontent. Those who spoke only Greek complained that their widows were being discriminated against, that they were not being given as much food in the daily distribution as the widows who spoke Hebrew. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers.“We should spend our time preaching, not administering a feeding program,” they said. “Now look around among yourselves, dear brothers, and select seven men, wise and full of the Holy Spirit, who are well thought of by everyone; and we will put them in charge of this business. Then we can spend our time in prayer, preaching, and teaching.”This sounded reasonable to the whole assembly, and they elected the following: Stephen (a man unusually full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, Nicolaus of Antioch (a Gentile convert to the Jewish faith, who had become a Christian). These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them and laid their hands on them in blessing.
Ah, the origins of the bureaucratic race-based welfare state and the Christian diaconate! Of course, the absolutely crucial difference is that this is not a state-run distribution, as it was in the Rome of panem et circenses. Or now with us.

Stephen's energetic preachig enraged his fellow Jews so much that he was condemned to death by stoning (Sharia did not come from nowhere!) and one Saul, who acted as coat-check boy for the men who did the deed, later became the famous 13th Apostle Paul. (On the far left in the pic above)  Acts 7: 54-60, if you're interested.  The Wikipedia article on him, no surprise, mentions that some find his attitude, gasp, "anti-Jewish." Sigh. Christianity, as the neo-heathens never cease to remind us, arose within the not entirely uniform Judaism of the Second Temple as a fight among Jews.

And for your Schadenfreudenal enjoyment, speaking of martyrs, a White liberal in South Africa who decided to open his farm for Black refugees fleeing "xenophobia"  is now, the wake of the Africans' split into two hostile groups, in fear of his life and that of his wife and ten children. A prisoner of the savage people he wanted to help. Well deserved, I say, and a perfect example of The Most Foolish People On The Planet (c).

Happy St. Stephen Boxing Day!

Oddity

At Christmastime I sometimes lay aside my Genghis Khan attitude toward the world and get sentimental and past-oriented, remembering all the Christmases of my childhood and the generation of my parents and grandparents.

I watch, I confess, the 1971 pilot episode of The Waltons, the Christmas story called The Homecoming. Yes, I know. Shocking.

(Spoiler alert for you softies who might ever watch this.)

But the odd thing about this story --aside from portraying a romantic vision of a lost America in 1930's rural Virginia-- is the conflict between Momma (Patricia Neal) and John Boy (Richard Thomas) over the 17-year old boy's habit of locking the door to his bedroom.

Now anyone with half a brain might suspect what an adolescent male was doing in his bedroom at that age and why he wanted the door locked. So the mother's accusatory and suspicious persistence about it is, well, kinda creepy.

Turns out that John Boy is not doing what we all assume he was doing, but is writing. And since he is being raised for a trade, he is hiding it from his family.

Odd.

Given its time, it does nod to the PC pieties about race that now suffocate us, but from the perspective of 2015, it has a quality that you can't count on anymore in drama or comedy, where it pokes fun at its characters but never holds them in contempt.

The inter-generational family solidarity, the vibrant relations of men and women as different beings, the overt religion, the connections of a rural community,--segregated but friendly-- etc. well, romantic though it be,  has a dignity that any attempt to portray a contemporary family would find almost impossible to carry off.

Cons and Pros

My dear friend L is a Unitarian Universalist minister. We have known each other for 30 years or so. She has remained mostly the liberal that I was back then while I have, well, plummeted from grace at increasing velocities over the years.

She linked with approval to a Facebook post whose uplifting cheerleader message was, "You can do this because you are badass."

And here is the profile pic for the badass in question:

Scares the shit outta me, that's for sure!

And to make up to my readers for inflicting this testostrone-erasing picture on you, an offering in atonement:

Porn actor Jeff Allen.  Back in the late 90's-early 00's he was, IMHO, as close to perfect as a man could get.

Now balance has been restored to The Force.

Transgressive thoughts, continued.

Maybe segregation and Jim Crow laws in the South were not groundless evil hatred for no good reason.

Do a little research on the increased likelihood of suffering violence if you are a white woman involved with Black men.

Saturday morning, Advent 2015

Every bit of info I learn about the cosmos, the planet, etc. makes me wonder. And it would be a mistake to underestimate the role that computer graphics play in all this, to say nothing of photographic technology.  These modalities make arcane bits of scientific inquire into almost revelatory images.

Although I am not a Young Earther or anything of the kind --even St Augustine in the 5th century thought the Genesis days were metaphors-- I find Darwin critics interesting, partly because I resent the arrogance of their orthodoxy. I am a creationist only in the sense that I am a theist, but not on scientific grounds, where my expertise is nil. Yet the Cambrian explosion and the required pre-existence of fantastically complex DNA for the emergence of the "simplest" living cell...I don't think that men of science have any idea of how to explain those things yet. Much less why the Big Bang banged or what was "before" it. Reality always outstrips any theory about it.

On the mundane and very post-lapsarian plane, I briefly looked at a UK spinoff of Jersey Shore, called Geordie Shore, about similarly simian young Brits in Newcastle. My God, I could only take about 30 seconds. What vile and subhuman behavior. As I have mentioned elsewhere, for a culture that foregrounds "human dignity" as one of its great virtues, our entertainment overflows with images of humans at our most pathetically contemptible, where dignity is farthest thing imaginable. Made me think that for people like that, Islam might be preferable.

Switching gears yet again...

My admittedly sentimental wallpaper for Christmas, above,  echoes my admittedly sentimental attitude about Christmas. The painting evokes evening on a cold quiet New England hillside: the sea of stars in the black sky, the crunch of snow under your feet, the light and implied warmth glowing from the simple houses..this was how Christmas felt to me as a child...and well after that. Whenever I see the image I imagine myself coming home from school late, or heading back to the house after walking the dog. My siblings are playing in the living room, my Dad is reading the paper and my Mom is cooking dinner. It is clearly the fantasy of an introvert who is stimulated by contrasts: dark/light, warmth/cold, silence/sound, distance/intimacy, presence/absence.  If you could do the Twilight Zone thing and imagine yourself into a picture, this would be one I'd want to visit.

Mr B and I both grew up in stable and sane families. Whatever our ups and downs, home was always a safe place. It never occurred to me until I got to know the wider world and especially the years I worked with Black and Latino middle-schoolers that home could actually be the last place you'd want to go to feel safe.

Reminds me of one of the miscreants sent to me for counseling. He was Yemeni and Muslim, coming here with his widower Dad and sister to join a network of relatives, one of whom owned a store where he worked on weekends, underage. His 16-year-old sister did not go to school but stayed in the home. After yet another event in class where he was sent to me for misbehavior, he announced that the family was returning to Yemen because --and I am sure he was quoting his father -- "people here have too much freedom."

I wish all the Muslims felt that way.

UnWatchable

For a man of my sensibilities, it is very hard to find entertainment to watch that does not trigger me, that does not shout Pravda West.  Potemkin Village and White Erasure, wall to wall with Numinous Negroes and Phallic Females.

In The Expanse, ---aSyFy series, so you know the score-- I just watched a scene where the local head of the Mormon project of finding a new planet to colonize depends --get this-- on the uniquely brilliant skills of an engineer who is....now, wait for it...African.

Cause as you know, the planet is just overrun with them and the whole Mormon church could not find anyone else.

The scene where the White Mormon elder relieves the African Genius of his lead role because of his ties to a terrorist "human rights" organization is vomit-inducing. Mr Numinous reminds him of the sins of "organized religion." Clearly meant to remind us of the LDS sin of not admitting Africans to their priesthood. Mr Ebonic tells Mr Paleface that by relieving him they will lose "all their best and brightest and most reliable". A renowned African reputation.  And then kinda threatens to screw up the flight in retaliation.

Lesson? Whites are never to be forgiven for whatever crimes against the (Liberal) Faith they have committed. Neither apology nor atonement nor amendment of behavior will ever be enough.

So my thought then is, why bother in the first place?

The Grand Themes

Last night Mr B wanted us to watch an alt-history series, Man in the High Castle, where the Axis won WWII, dividing North America into a West Coast Japanese zone and an Eastern German zone. Within ten minutes of the opening of the first episode, we have the now-regular trope of Phallic Female Humiliates Male.

Today, the opening episode of the Showcase riff on Arthur C Clarke's 1953 sci-fi book Childhood's End --alien takeover of Earth-- begins with a Numinous Negro astrophysicist named Milo.

As we know, the planet is just chock full of females who, although they cannot meet the regular requirements for combat, can take down with ease both soldiers and martial artists. Same way with the legions of high IQ Africans who dominate the sciences...

The regularity and frequency of this stuff amounts to social engineering propaganda about who really should be in charge.

And when that doesn't happen, it will obviously be Our Fault.

The old Soviet lie-fest Pravda, in hindsight, is looking more and more plausible.

Becoming who you are

It's an old Jungian tag, to become who you are meant to be. It's one of the ideas that lives in my therapy practice with men.

And it's one of the calls of that the Gnostics heard and hear...(although extremely few contemporary "Gnostics" are other than ecofemmy New Age Democrats.)

Well, here's another take on identity. I found it quite moving.

HT to Mr Donovan.

The Founding Fathers

would be so proud, knowing how their costly experiment turned out...

Der Untergang Des Abendlandes

MacBeth. Act I. Scene I.

Legends of the Fall

Today is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the 41st anniversary of my loss of virginity. My reflections on that wonderful event and its consequences are here.

The connection between my eros and my identity has certainly changed over the years. Nowadays pretty well the only thing I like about gay men is that they have sex with one another. The rest of it grows increasingly alien.  Mr Donovan's diagnosis was, alas, all too on-point.

But that elemental psycho-physical gravitation between men...I know that 97%+ of the human race finds it odd --at best-- but to me it is as natural as breathing. I cannot really imagine myself otherwise. And having Mr B in my life I am very blessed and grateful to experience it quite regularly. Not just the sex, but the whole range of it. Which, of course, makes the sex exponentially better.  I'm quite the lucky old dog.

In The Missing Myth, Gilles Herrada makes one point which is well worth considering, that the monotheistic West has no mythic space for same-sex eros. It can only function as an alien phenomenon. And that does damage to the souls of the homoerotically shaped, which remain homeless and haunted. (Explains a lot of "LGBTQ" culture.)

I forget what his take on gay marriage is but I think he was unenthusiastic for reasons similar to my own: marriage is heterosexual by nature and for gays to try to claim it doesn't change the archetypal fact that it can only ever be hand-me-down and ill-fitting drag for us. The whole "Marriage Equality" campaign struck me as lazy and cheap and, for a group which prides itself on its creativity, staggeringly derivative.

Not only does it erase the specificity of same-sex love, but it makes male-male and female-female partnerships equivalent and indistinct. I have often referred to it as "genderless marriage." IMHO, not only should the ritual form of two men binding themselves together have a different shape from that of a man and a woman, it should also be different from the rites of two women.

Jews 1, Vatican 0

Pope Evita's Vatican eschews baptizing Jews.

One wonders why the Apostles went to all that trouble...

----

Years ago , during the worst AIDS years, I was director of an AIDS organization. We succeeded in getting the Minister of Health, a Conservative and no friend to us --this was in the days when people had a choice--, came to visit our offices.

She was a quite large Jewess and well aware of her official majesty. During the Q&A after our presentations, she had the chutzpah to tell us to our faces that " you know of course that this disease is the best thing that ever happened to your community"...or words to that effect. It was offensive and rude.

And it was true.

And because it was 1989, her job was in no jeopardy because of it.

We eventually succeeded in making gay men with AIDS into sacred victims, at least in the eyes of the post-Reagan government in the US and eventually in Canada, too. Thirty years ago journalists and politicians could say what they wanted about gays, etc. without losing their heads. But in the ensuing juggernaut, which I do not think would have happened in the same way without HIV, now one's livelihood and reputation are at risk for not making lesbian wedding cakes.

This by way of prologue for the offensive and rude and equally true thing I am about to say, that what happened to the Jews of Europe during WWII was "the best thing that ever happened to their community."

In the wake of that Part Two of the Great European Civil War, they finally, after almost 2000 years, got their own country again.

And ever since, with their success in making people believe that of the 230 million deaths in the last century or so caused by ideological and/or ethnic wars and violence, theirs were the ones that carry metaphysical and world-changing significance. (The Eurocentrism of this claim is astonishing, don't you think?) Consequently, it has been their great shield against any kind of criticism throughout the West, especially in the religious world.

As with all our Official Sacred Victim Groups, we have to ignore their identity unless they decide we have to pay attention to it. "I'm just like you and how dare you suggest otherwise" can go to "As the child of Holocaust survivors" in a heartbeat. Like gays, and women, and Blacks, and Muslims, etc....this is how the victim game is played. Wymyn, though no numerical minority, are treated like one and act accordingly.

I read as much as I could stand of the Vatican document. It plays out in the inter-religious realm the very same game that the Catholic liberals want played out in the marriage game: while asserting that the doctrine remains unchanged, alter the practical policies so completely that that doctrine becomes a dead letter.

As with mostly everything the Church does or doesn't, it is not as a practicing Catholic that I object, of course, having long given up the right to have an opinion on those grounds. But it is as a Man of the West that I respond with pain and grief, and yes, anger, to every cowardly self-evisceration that I see enacted by men who are supposedly the guardians of a Faith which for 1500 years formed the backbone of the most consequential civilization in human history.

Religion and Power

I am, let's be clear, in favor of both. As long as it's the right kind of religion with the right kind of power.  Pope Evita's fraudulent mirage of "a poor, dirty, servant Church" is dishonest crap. And every call he makes for this kind of humility is a way for him to inflate his own ego. Typical.

One of the contemptible contradictions within liberals --women especially-- that I noticed many years ago, even before my conversion, was their simultaneous depreciation of power as an evel and their ravenous hunger for it. When White Males had it, it was oppression or "power over", as they liked to say. Especially if it made them feel "less than." But if Official Sacred Victim Groups gained it, it was "empowering." The whole thing was BS. Still is.

Anyway, most people and most peoples, I suspect, embraced their religions precisely as sources of power in the world. Maybe not the original believers, but once a movement got going and you could smell its future, yes.

Why did all those barbarian kings in Europe convert to Christianity? Surely not out of entrancement with the Sermon on the Mount? For the same reason that Constantine had the ChiRho painted on his soldiers' shields: power. They could see that this was the religion of the strong.

When Europe was Christian, even though the very same requirements of love and mercy and forgiveness and blah blah blah were in place, it would never have entered their minds to let Muslims flood into their lands. They didn't even like it when Jews showed up.

Why? Because more important than the actual moral content of The Faith was the moral status they had as the possessors of The Faith. That was the nexus between religion and power. They were God's special people. In real terms, belonging to the One True Church was more important than living out the mendicant lifestyle of the Gospels. And it was right and natural and even theologically correct.

Once Europeans jettisoned the Old Faith for the New One --Enlightened Liberalism-- all that remained was the (impossible) moral content without the protection afforded by the Church and its (quite rational) self-aggrandizing dogmas of exclusive access to truth and God.

And now we are being swamped by the Jihad and the Reconquista and the consummate moron on the throne of St Peter abandons his own people, the tottering children of a spectral Christendom, because for him, as for all liberals, his  public moral performance and pathological altruism means more to them than the survival of his own kin.

To hell with them all.

Not A Muslim Terrorist

Marxism, Groucho-style

He once said, I believe, that he would never want to join any club that would have him as a member.
Contemporary Liberals/Victims take the opposite attitude: they are most drawn to places that don't want them...and that they often proclaim, under other circumstance, not to want themselves. Picky.

An old friend of mine, a wonderful man, but, alas, an EastCoast Liberal, responded to a FB post of mine by saying that "White" was a difficult idea to clarify. Nope, sorry, dude. Not hard at all. It may be a little fuzzy at the edges here and there, but what human thing isn't? (I include Georgians and Armenians as extensions of EuroChristendom in Asia and I exclude, obviously, Gypsies and, less obviously, Balkan Muslims as extensions of AsianIslam). That does not make it unclear, just not inhumanly absolute. Which is the standard Liberals love to invoke when their pets or pet causes are involved. As in, "Well, not all Muslims are terrorists." Zzzzzzz. True. And insignificant.

Whites are the descendants of the Caucasian native peoples of European Christendom: Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant. Not North Africans, not West Asians or IndoAryans.

I notice that White/Liberals who find the concept of "White" complex and problematic never seem to raise it about the other races: Is "Black" difficult? Or "Asian" or "Latino?" Nope. How many Liberals would dare challenge Barack Hussein's self-definition as Black, even though he is genetically half-White?

My own therapeutic suspicion is that they react this way because the prohibition against White self-identity is so profound and too many of them buy the narrative of our unique moral depravity, aka, our unparalleled success. CrimeThink.

But I notice a funny after-effect, too. Some of them are like the gay men I know who are grandly dismissive of the merely social construction of some vague oppressive notion like "masculinity." Yet, if you tell them that they are not real men, well, that's another story. Boom! How dare you exclude me from a group I hate and which I think does not exist?!

My friend reacted very definitely to my defining Ashkenazim out of the "White" category. The Jewish homeland is, by ancient and universal self- definition, Israel, not Europe. Caucasian, yes, like Arabs and Turks.  Hence...outside my definition. White-ish, but not truly White. Real Whites are Gentiles.

His wife's family is partly Jewish --as is mine--and he found the notion that her "profoundly European" grandfather was not White "laughable." Apparently then, "White" is suddenly not so difficult to understand after all. And how dare I exclude his child's bloodline.

Our people are very confused.

Various thinkings, Advent 2015

Adultery is a terrible idea. Helping guys work through it in therapy, either as the perp or the victim, is messy. God didn't list it in the Decalogue for no reason and Dante didn't make betrayal the worst of all sins for nothing. Sad to see all the ways in which it damages the soul.

The only reason, that is, the only reason certain people resist accepting IQ as a significant measure is because Blacks always do poorly compared to Whites. Not because Whites always do less well than North Asians or Ashkenazi Jews. Cuz if you take the IQ issue seriously, then most of America's "Black race problem" is insoluble and a galactic waste of treasure and soul. Silk purse, sow's ear.

Duh.

I am grateful to all my ancestors and all the unknown White men (and a few others) who built a civilization where I can sit in San Francisco on a chilly dark December evening in a warm(ish) house, with a cigar and a shot of single malt and listen to Renaissance polyphony on the internet. Everything it took --and still takes-- for that to happen has been beyond the capabilities of most of the human race for most of its history. It really is the functional equivalent of a miracle.

Funniest line of the day.
Question: Women have a special gift called "women's intuition," so why don't men have their own special "men's intuition?"
Answer: "They do. It's called "common sense."

Our institutions and our media are corrupted because of the presence and power of women. Because they work and have money, they have purchasing power and so our businesses pitch to them, feeding their bottomless yaw of validation hunger, resulting in the vile Potemkin Village which surrounds us. They ought not be educated beyond what is necessary for them to be wives and mothers, lest they get jobs and money and ruin society. Over time their influence corrodes everything.

As St Jerome said in reply to the question of why women were not allowed to preach, "Eve preached but once and wrecked the whole world."

To be fair, fallen Man creates corruption like he breathes out carbon dioxide. But it's different. With men, we don't have The Hunger Games or Twilight or Keeping Up With The Kardashians or The View or Barack Obama. That lacuna alone is justification enough for eternal Patriarchy.

I've had a hankering for pasta alla carbonara. Decadent. And something the angels will never get to enjoy.

Pope Francis is still an asshole. Barack Obama is still a catastrophe.

My 40-years-younger-than-me trainer continues to wear me out at the gym. My gait is improving but Jesus he makes me feel like a grandpa. He gives me the same feeling I used to get ten years ago when I worked out at the Sonoma State U gym after teaching my class there, that he and I are not really the same species.

I have become an AltRight sympathizer for the same reason I left behind being a Liberal and became a Conservative: I really resent being required to serially lie about what is right in front of my face. If anything is NOT self-evident, it's that all men are created equal. (I do not doubt my capacity for self-deception, but that's my own flaw, not someone else's Naked Emperor ethical program.)

H8dt

As in Jonathan, whose hugely informative book on the psychology of morality I have posted on. He describes a scene in an elite school that pretty well explains the mess we're in. Its symptoms, anyway.

Maenads in hidden groves are one thing. In civilized spaces, quite another.

White Males (especially Straight Gentiles, who make up at least 95% of the group) are the lynch-pin.

Class act

It's the rare man who can pull off a bowtie outside a tuxedo and not look like a capon. Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones could do it.

And here's another academic at a small US rural religious college whose choice of tie, and suspenders, rather enhances his leanly athletic and angular intellectual appeal:

Looks a bit like a pre-buffed Chris Evans

Troof about Tref

An article in a Jewish publication points out the views of the classical Jewish theologian Maimonides, about the relative merits of Islam and Christianity, Muslims and Nazarenes.

While contemporary Jews and their foolish Christian allies go on about the evils of "supersessionism," Maimonides made it clear that for Jews, Christianity is pagan idolatry.
Islam shares this view as well.

All the kowtowing and accommodation only goes in one direction.

Back in the 12th century, people told the truth. Now, ecumenical prevarication rules the day.

Chicken and egg

Mr B recently said that I was a misogynist. I told him I wouldn't feel that way if women weren't so insane.

None of the crap that is taking us down would be possible without women's suffrage.

And The Pill: a Western invention that lead to the destruction of the West.

This is why we can't have nice things

Though replacing Dr Watson with a Chinese female offended me in principle, I like Johnny Lee Miller and Elementary.

Tonight I am watching the latest episode and lo and behold, the plot revolves around the death of a White female doctor who is married to her White male doctor husband....aaaaaand her big Black male doctor husband, and all three of them live(d) together happily in a "thruple", with a child...that I don't want to see.

So I turned it off.

PC ruins everything.

-----

"Human rights"

only ever means that the Left's latest victim group is to be allowed to do as it wants.

A Swiss canton banned the burqa in public. The anocranials are lamenting this attack on "women" and "human rights."

(My question is, Why are there Muslims in Switzerland in the first place?)

A great many of our people are hopelessly lost.

----

The fundamental issue

is moral.

And moral status is inescapably linked in the current regime with race first of all.

The passive acceptance by Whites --and White men above all-- of their moral reduction is at the root of all the West's diseases.

Decent Conservatism is wholly inadequate to this task. The only pathway to the West's survival is for White men to reclaim that moral status by the thorough and unapologetic rejection of the entire Liberal project and every one of its isms and phobias.

Which is what Liberals have named as The Worst Crime In History: White Supremacy.

When all it actually is is White Priority...something which every other racial group claims for itself and denies only to us.

So the only thing that can save us is the one thing we are absolutely forbidden even to think.

See how that works?

---

Irony of Ironies

In the 20th century the Third Worlders wanted so badly to get rid of the Whites who'd colonized them, and did. Now in the 21st they all want to move to Europe and America.

You got your independent hellholes. Stay in them.

---

Cui bono?

This is a "hermeneutic" that Mr B often invokes: "To whose advantage is this?"

Watching yet another modern history program which decides to focus enormously disproportionate amounts of time on Hitler and the Nazis.

As I often think, why them and not the Communists?

And I ask about this constant stoking of the flame and ask, "Cui bono?"

The answers, I think, are pretty obvious.

Angry Muslims and Naked Men

That's how Mr B used to describe my world-transforming efforts here. To live up to his robust, if compact, description...

Angry Muslims (I'm sure they misunderstand The Religion Of Peace...)

They'll make great immigrants, just great, you Islamophobic bigothaterNaziracist.

And NSFW

Naked Men...well, one.

I suspect that he has been enhanced by Photoshop, but we at ExC don't discriminate...

Thanks

Mr B prepared a Thanksgiving turkey for us last night. I had some very distressing family stuff to deal with and was a less than thrilling guest, but he soldiered on and was his usual fine self. For the last eight years and for as long as he is in my life, I am very thankful.

Just me being cranky

The Greatest Places. An IMAX program with gorgeous photography of amazing sites all over the Earth.

The script is piously written as a bien-pensant sermon by some woman.

And narrator Avery Brooks sounds like a hyper-pompous parody of himself:
"The sun arises. And it is.....day."

But the images are stunning.

Why Islam Will Win

The nauseatingly self-conscious and cloying "liturgy" of TransGender Remembrance Day at a Protestant seminary. The natural unfolding of their first principles and of "the monstrous regiment of women."  And their LGBTQXYZ omega-males.

An aggressive, masculine, and utterly self-confident faith like Islam, with its clarity and call to monomaniacal transcendance, would wipe out this dickless blather in a heartbeat.

Hitler Ad Nauseam

I have remarked before how silent Western media are about Marxism and the 70+ years of catastrophe that it unleashed on the world. And in its current cultural form, is still unleashing. Yet movies and stories and comparisons about Hitler and the Nazis are flourishing. He and they are the unquestionable pinnacle of Evil, especially among sophisticates who laugh condescendingly at the very notion of evil when it's referenced by a White Christian Male Republican President.

I made the partly snarky remark elsewhere that it must be the uniforms.

Comparing Nazi Germany's sartorial style with the frumpy couture of the zombies of Russia and China, etc. makes it clear that the  Krauts had vastly superior tailors.

The more serious and more likely reason is that our organs of communication are greatly overrepresented by Jews, who have a powerful motive to keep the Second World War alive and to make it all about them. Forever. On my darker days, I see the obsessive focus on Germany as a stand-in for them for all of White Christian Europe. And all White Europeans. Making sure we keep feeling bad about ourselves. Forever. It's what gets the Left up in the morning.

But there is yet another reason, somewhat connected to my frivolity about fashion. The Nazis are vastly more dramatically interesting and compelling than the dull seas of proletarian commissars and  cadres. Do you think that Casablanca would be as compelling if Ingrid Bergman was trying to get safe passage out of some half-assed People's Republic where nothing ever worked and the stores only sold one brand of old toasters? There is a subset of porn that includes Nazi or Nazi-like characters in them. I bet no one imagines falling into the lustful hands of a Commie.

Half of Europe, all of China and a lot of other places lay under the soul-smothering rule of the great egalitarians for many decades. And ubiquitous mind-numbing grayness was the best they could ever muster. What do you expect from a world of official equality?

National Socialism is intrinsically more interesting and dynamic than Marxism-Leninism. National glory has a lot more spunk in it than class resentment. Bolsheviks, though worse than Nazis in actual effect, I would argue, are boring as hell.

That was true from 1917-1989 and it's true this week.

is there a Holocaust Museum in Washington to make statements about this and that anyway?  What happened to the Jews living among Europeans in WWII was not our doing. Have they got Civil War museum in Tel Aviv?

Mr Donovan again

He has a way of sinking into my brain and has had quite a role in shaping my thinking over the years.

Currently, his wisdom:

No Tears For Strangers.

No Apologies, No Arguments, No Explanations.

Part of the scam of universalist humanitarianism is to convince us --and you know who you are-- that Strangers are in fact part of Us. Not so. Captured Nigerian girls are nothing to me. They are not #OurGirls. BlackVictims at Dartmouth or Mizzou are not My People; they are nothing to me but enemies. (Only an idiot believes that they think of us as Their People.) To imagine otherwise is to play a head game designed only to hook you into someone else's agenda. Don't let them make you care about their issues. In the end, they are designed to hurt you.

Once you have assessed the status of your interlocutor according to the Huntington scale, you know whether there is any benefit to you at all in engaging them in argument or explanation. If they are
closing in on Enemies territory, then you only attack and defend, never apologize --never-- and don't waste time talking to them.

The Unbearable Whiteness of Being

JPNill has long been skeptical about the notion of White identity and solidarity, to the point of considering it "delusionalness." (He speaks his own dialect of English.)

A few thoughts.

Group identity is historical. What we call the French and the Italians, etc arrived at being such over a course of history. They were previously composed of other identities that over time coalesced into their current one, which to many seems just a given. But it is not.

So, if the Celts and Gauls and all the various Gothic tribes could eventually become The French, it's possible that the various EuroCaucasians might one day become The Whites. Not in the sense of a single state, but in the sense of a single people with national tribes. Many Europeans now think of themselves as Europeans. That was not always the case, of course.

I know of no group identity, no matter how strong, that does not include internal divisions. This is human nature. I do not imagine some kind of otherworldly homogeneity.

Vanguards play a role in identity formation. I certainly don't expect the vast majority of EuroCaucasians to wake up one day and sing Kumbaya. Many --perhaps even most-- are lost and would rather die and have their lineages disappear than commit CrimeThink or relinquish their more particular grievance histories for the sake of racial survival. But if the situation continues to deteriorate and our demographic and civilizational precariousness is absorbed (we are currently no more than 10% of the planet and the number of child-bearing females is even smaller) , a vanguard might have a galvanizing impact.

Identity is also created by opposition. When it becomes clearer that the rest of the species sees us all as White, our differences being trivial to them, that might also create a greater sense of racial identity and solidarity. Being hated is often a spur to group identity formation.

Stranger things have happened.

Imitation of life

Since I switched to a Mac, it's a lot of work to change the font and color for copied texts from elsewhere into Blogger. So I leave this as is. Sorry if it's hard to read.

Theological musing post the visit of my LDS pal and our discussions. Gilles Herada's "The Missing Myth" makes the excellent point that in monotheist religion there is no native mythological space for same-sex love except as alien and dangerous. (Watching LGBTQXYZ antics, I can sympathatize...). This traps the amazingly un-creative "queer" culture in a loop of mimicry as a supposed solution to that emptiness, but all the clothes are really drag, and borrowed.
My "gay" compatriots consider my eschewal of the T in LGBT and my thanks but no thanks to genderless marriage as some kind of self-hatred. On the very contrary. It's because I want to discover the native and natural truth of same-sex love and let it speak for itself, even start to seed its own mythos, not dress in ill-fitting hand-me-downs that palliate the symptoms of soul-hunger while leaving the deeper issue un-addressed.

Ramblin' man

"Ecumenism" was a typical mistake of the ungrounded utopianism of the Sixties. It has led to a world where truth is considered bad form and where nice feelings are the coin of the realm.

Evita Bergoglio, the friggin' Pope of Rome for God's sake, found himself unable to speak frankly to Lutherans in his city because he cares about being applauded more than he cares about the one thing for which he was elected, to maintain the clear truth and unity of the Catholic Faith, which any reader of the Catechism can discover for himself.

People died for beliefs that His Adorableness treats with barely disguised contempt.

In typical fashion, while faux-theatrically describing himself as humble and limited, he makes himself and his own opinions paramount and primary. Seemingly every time he opens his pontifical mouth, he wounds the people whose shepherd he is supposed to be, for the sake of currying momentary favor with outsiders in his presence. Talking to strangers he is all goo. Talking to his own, especially those who work for him, he is a priggish scold.

He is deeply dishonest. Anyone who knows my life story will be as astonished as I am that I have the nerve to find myself ashamed of him.

**

The internet is full of LibWestern gush about Paris, how croissants and champagne and tinkling out Imagine on the ivories and "love" are going to overcome the hateful terrorists...who are never accurately and honestly named for what they are, just the latest edition of the 1400 year old Army of Allah.

People ramble on how love and light and peace and kittens always win. In what scenario? What planet have they been living on? Have they never read a history book? It is deeply creepy.

When confronted with bloodthirsty Brown savages, they collapse in high-minded pacifism, but uncooperative Christian bakers and photographers provoke them to paroxysms of ire.

It enrages me that people who are the descendants and the beneficiaries of a most extraordinary civilization, built over centuries by sweat and blood, are so dickless, entitled, stupid and deeply unworthy.

**

A confession. During my tenure with Mr B I have come to be quite fond of cheap and chilled Cabernet Sauvignon.

**

Childless though I be, when I see parents on TV or movies portrayed as the placating prisoners of their children's moods, it offends me.

**

I finally found some mincemeat for holiday pie. No mean feat. A disappearing part of an old-fashioned culture. Opened the jar and the sharp rich smell brought back decades of Thanksgivings and Christmases.

**

Time now for sleep.

Age appropriate

Due to injuring my knee, I've started some rehab-strength work with a 25-year-old trainer at my gym. Some of my buddies, highly evolved beings all..., have made wink-wink comments about him and me. When he looks at me I am sure he sees a grandpa. When I look at him, I am very impressed. He's a terrifically attractive athlete (and quite knowledgable about how to fix my problem). Tall, dark, lean and moves like a tiger.

I am impressed, although I am neither blond nor numb, not made uncomfortable by attraction. What can I say? He could be my grandson. I appreciate him, but the thought of being up close and personal with him feels kinda creepy. Not, as they like to say in Ontario, appropriate.

Now the fella in the picture above --who's still my junior, btw-- would be a far more challenging ride. Much more unsettling and electric. A male who's in shape and has grey in him turns my head. "Grownup man" really does it for me.

Mr B., for example, no boy, he. Well, yes. Grrrr.

Excepted

from the bloodbath.

I don't care what his politics are.

Robespierre

He is the archetype of the intellectual in power, starting out by spouting high-sounding ideals and ending up with baskets of heads and blood in the streets.

I am an intellectual and have zero power, despite my Totally Awesome White Male Privilege.

But if, in my fantasy, I were Consul for Life in the post-American Commonwealth, there would be rivers of blood. And it would be no accident.

That makes me a Mindful Intellectual, a Conscious Tyrant.

In my dreams.

Paris

A society that was not foolish to the point of suicidal insanity would have prevented this problem years ago. A 180 degree conversion of mind, heart and soul is the only thing that can respond to this adequately. I expect nothing but the same useless ritual, moral grandstanding and fraudulent hand-wringing that Charlie Hebdo produced.

A healthy society would respond to this set of jihad attacks with riots and the burning down of mosques and Muslim neighborhoods and calls for their expulsion. Not, as in the US after 9/11, with a self-hobbled war, massive lies about the nature of the enemy and an increase in Islamic immigration.

Only a bloodbath can save Europe, and the Europeans lack the guts for it.

A Word to the Wise

One of the assumed and architectonic structures of Christianity --thanks to its Jewish origins-- is the centrality of holiness as moral goodness, with the consequent dominance of sin as the great problem to be resolved. Part of the attraction of Gnosticism was that it shifted the ground to another issue entirely: ignorance, alienation and entrapment. Now that was something I could get behind. To a man like me it was vastly more appealing to hear "Wake up!" instead of "Stop that and say you're sorry!"

One of St Paul's (to me, completely unconvincing) arguments against the Mosaic Law was that if you violated any part of it, you were guilty of violating all of it. Protestant evangelicals today, like Kirk Cameron, will approach a prospect and ask if they've ever lied. On getting the inevitably "yes," they try to convince them that they therefore deserve damnation by "a holy God."

It's creepy and nuts. Reeks of Calvin. (Although I admit --or maybe confess is a better term--) that, absent his theology, I have always found Mr Cameron, an apparently happy fella,  very easy on the eyes.

Like the recently improved Rev Furtick.  In both cases the content of the talking bores me, but I like the packaging.

Catholicism has never taken that all-or-nothing approach. More sanely rabbinic and Aristotelian in its psychology of human acts, it clearly differentiates between minor and major wrongdoing, venial and mortal sin. For all his oddity, the Catholic God is not the repressed hysteric that the handsome but skewed Kirk Camerons of the world worship.

To fair, though, the behaviors that got classed as damnation-worthy mortal sins got expanded past the point of credibility. But that dynamic was more about the paranoid side of rabbinic thinking, the tactic of "building a fence around the Torah."

In sync with my own character, a religion that I would be drawn to would be much more of a wisdom tradition than a goodness tradition. As a Jewish Jungian pointed out to me when I described the outline of my Gnostic project of re-editing the Bible, I had clearly privileged and foregrounded the wisdom books. Intelligence and beauty: these are the things I realize always bound me to Catholicism. And why the study of moral theology always induced narcolepsy in me and made me feel depressed.

Yet the religion that the Men of the West need in our hour of The Great Erasure is not one that is detachedly contemplative, but that promotes and provokes the warrior virtues. To me, though, it makes a big difference if men are being challenged to to aspire to something that is in their nature to esteem --strength, courage, skill and honor-- rather than humility, meekness, dispossession, etc...all of which, to the male soul, sounds merely like an invitation to weakness, which repels most men and eventually results in the Obamacare Pajama Boy.

One of the youngest and most interesting --on paper-- newish religions is Sikhism, a 16th century Punjabi monotheist riff on Hinduism. As a result of its violent history --the Muslims were especially gruesome against them, no surprise-- it has developed the notion of the "saint-soldier." Here personal asceticism --control of the passions-- is placed in service of military valor. Catholicism had its own version of this at one time, the military monks like the (in)famous Templars. Indeed, all of the much-maligned Crusades was based on the knighthood that medieval Catholicism produced.

To me there is no tension between being a warrior and being wise. We have this in our Western tradition already. Wisdom would be a major attribute of Godhead in the New Faith, because The Most Foolish People On The Planet (C) are in desperate need of it.
