Leaden England

The portrayal of Christian religion in British TV dramas. Is is ever anything other than contemptible or sinister? Or both?

Yes, because enlightened secularism, which has lead to the idea starving the terminally ill and disabled seniors and infants to death, a horribly painful way to die from what I've heard, is working out so well for them. Not.

I have never heard of a functioning atheistic society. Even those that are secular have their goals, ideas, and figures that they deify in all but name. And, the more I hear about atheists supporting the baseless multiverse theory, the more I wonder if there are actually any people who do not have belief without proof in something.

Europe has never been an especially happy place. But for the past two centuries, right about this time, too, it seems, things really go to pot. Either people with head on their shoulders say enough's enough, or liberalism continues to atrophy a once-great country into the British Caliphate. I have to wonder if that's the plan.

Compared to other works featuring the Church? It's not as bad. I know priests who chuckle when the show is mentioned, and some who hate the show. I absolutely think the characters are bad and despicable, but I confess to finding the shows sense of humor entertaining in a bizarre way. "Fecking Greeks! They invented gayness!" It's the uncomfortable, unbalanced sort of humor, "Oh my God, I can't believe they joked about that, is it okay that I'm laughing?"

Remember what you said about groups admitting truths to themselves that they would never reveal to others? Kinda the Catholic version of that, even if I have problems with the research.
