The Canadians went to the polls on Monday. The left split, Liberals plummeting, leader Michael Ignatieff losing in his own riding, and the very leftist NDP taking the role of the official opposition, giving the Conservatives a clear majority. Stephen Harper continues as Prime Minister. The separatist Bloc Quebecois practically disappeared, holding only 3 of the 308 seats in the House of Commons.
Canadian Conservatives are not like American conservatives, not even Republicans. More like the right side of the Democrats.
