Is a puzzlement

Why do the Enlightened Westerners who find celibacy for Catholic priests so out of date, woman-hating and oppressive not find the Dalai Lama and all the monks of Buddhism equally so?

Just askin'.

Real easy. Lousy haircuts, male-only muumuus, and meat free dishes.

The Buddha's ascetic ideal and misogyny isn't involved with revering the Madonna and child. ...

It is easy and indeed obligatory to excuse the Buddha's misogyny as determined by his context and culture. True, he attain'd enlightenment that these things are maya, but his enlightenment didn't have access to critical theory on race, gender and class, and thus he didn't suspect how influential maya can be on concepts of enlightenment. ... The critical-theory Boddhisattva perceives that one mayn't simply grab nirvana for happiness: one must agitate to correct race gender and class privileges in maya before one has any right to nirvana.

To me it is sad that the Buddha remain'd upadana'd to male privilege. But that doesn't mean we can't seem to learn from Buddhism and Buddhists some of the most important insights we need to have.

I suspect, very soon though: »What is "race"? What is "gender"? What is "class"?« and they blink.

Quran 2:222 gives "Room 222" more ominous vibes than the original TV show.
