Looks to me like affordable renewable sustainability itself! ... White 'guilt' is an infinitely renewable energy source for political religion since so little effort is required (calling for social change, voting Democrat, opposing anti-science creationism, etc etc) to establish moral validity and indeed superiority.
I don't suppose that in 1950 the average Catholic in Europe or North America could feel she or he is a better person than the pope, and this not by dint of tremendous efforts in sanctity but by not being 'right wing' etc.
As long as the 'infrastructure' of culture and civilization is maintain'd, and Lockean dominion by toleration or sublation continues, hot air political religion of whatever sort should be enough, eh?
