If you watch ethnic group comedians playing to their own group, you can discover that a lot of what is held to be heinous stereotypes when asserted by outsiders, is just common knowledge for the insiders. It's only on that basis that the audience can laugh. Comics and comedians tell the truth that way.
Gerard P Donelan published a bunch of all-too-true gay cartoons. One book (1987) is called
Drawing on the Gay Experience. Voila.
I'm afraid that the hypermale exterior and the teenage ladygirl interior, pictured above, is still all too common.
