In residential real estate, bid farewell to the 'master bedroom' - Baltimore Business Journal:
Cranky I may be, but this is pathetic.
Will I have to rename my Masters degrees? All three of 'em?

Spartacus
The cartoon ends.
I stopped watching awhile back. Stop-motion bloodbaths failed to hold my attention. And, of course, the PC stuff. It's all driven by romantic passion for the women. Lots of sword-wielding babes taking down Roman legions. Yeah, right. They can't even pass Marine combat training.

Gay scouts yes, gay scoutmasters no?
Boy Scouts propose lifting ban on gays, but only for youth | Reuters:
I am sure to win Self-Hating Homo of the Week award from GLAAD, but this does not make me happy. Why? Because if I look at it in a larger context, it is one more surrender of traditional organizations to the metasticizing of Equality and Inclusion For All as the absolute value. The assertion of any set of traditional values is unacceptable bigotry; that's what this means. By implication, if this is passed in May, all of the past is now judged and condemned. No part of traditional America can say, Sorry, this is ours. And again, it's for a tiny tiny minority. All must bow before the Moloch of Diversity.
And they can still exclude gay adults? How long will that last? We'll take your young gay boys, until they grow up into sexual predators...
This depressed me:
"Chuck Small, a BSA adult leader and the parent of 10- and 12-year-old scouts in South Carolina, welcomed the latest change. "It's a hard and divisive issue, but what it comes down to is that we learn more from people who are different from us than people who are like us," Small said. "I want my boys to have that opportunity to learn from as many people as possible.""
As as suppliant life-long learner in the classroom of Difference is Wonderful, whose job is to gasp in wonder at the Otherness of the Other and to learn to depreciate "people who are like us."

PS Haven't thought about this in years and years, but I joined a local Boy Scout troop for a little while back when I was maybe 12 or so. One thing I do recall is that all the other boys in the little group-- whatever they call that-- were Jews, and I could not break into the clique, so I left.

MSM fun
I no longer watch TV. Since November 2011. All my info comes via internet. So hooking up to the MSM news to find out what's happening with the Boston bombing is a bit of a shock.
NBC news has Brian Williams chatting with some "expert" about the situation around the two Muslim Chechen brothers who are apparently the perpetrators. The older one spent 6 months back in Russia last year. And his YouTube page is full of Islamic videos about jihad.
Mr Wilson and friend tell us that so far, the bombers' motivation remains unknown.

Win win
Democrat activist and journalist Reb David Sarota hoped the other day for a 'White American' to be the Boston Marathon bomber, lest, Allah forfend, we think badly of Islam, the world famous Religion of Peace.
Reb Sarota is in the running for this week's General Casey Multicultural Award, given to Americans who value diversity more than the lives of their countrymen.
Casey, US Army Chief of Staff no less, famously opined in 2009 after the Mohammedan doctor and officer Nidal Hasan killed and wounded his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, "as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse."
Others, for reasons only Allah can imagine, thought that there might turn out to be a Muslim connection to the bombing.
The two Tsarnaev brothers turn out to be Caucasian (Chechen) and Muslim. One of them even got naturalized. So Reb Sarota gets a Whitey American --sort of-- and the evil Islamophobic haters get a Muz.

Sounds right to me
"Classic democracy, the power of the majority, has been replaced by a new kind of democracy, represented by the rule of minorities over the majority. The minorities are being protected from the "totalitarian" and "authoritarian"-minded majority. The very semantics of democracy have been changed."
-Alexander Dugin--
Purity and Danger A Movable Feast
A classic work on the taboo among humans is Mary Douglas' Purity and Danger. In all societies, there are clean and unclean things, things sacred and things profane. The content changes, but the structure never does. It names what is dangerous as impure and tries to keep us safe from it. In our regime of progress and enlightenment, inclusion, diversity, open-mindedness and multicultural sensitivity, we pride ourselves on having overcome the irrational realm of superstition, of clean and unclean.
Good luck with that one.
VDH has an eye for inconsistencies and lists the arcane, complex and irrational rules of our current Victorian puritan regime. John Kekes has noted some of them as well.

As they say these days
"They made some bad choices."
But you can see where Kentucky's Marshal Raylan Givens comes from :)
