  2. Well, it is a quite particular aesthetic, not congenial to everyone.
    And not even like that in all Carthusian houses. The Carthusians are the most elitist of orders, and therefore small. They never exercise any outside ministry and you can't even go to their monasteries for a retreat or Mass unless you are thinking of joining. The long silent film called "Into Great Silence" gives a glimpse.
