Is this true for both the nations with protestant backgrounds (USA Germany) and Catholic backgrounds (Mexico italy)? Or is it more true for the nations with protestant backgrounds?
I think it works in both. What is prerequisite is a Western Christian background. (The Orthodox seem better insulated against the claptrap.)
Take Ireland, once an utterly Catholic country, or the province of Quebec. Both of them are now enthusiastically hell-bent on erasing The Old Religion with the Liberal Enlightenment.
